Future Earth Regional Workshop for Europe: report released

The report from the Future Earth Regional Workshop for Europe, held in Paris on 13-14 May 2013, is now available online as PDF.

The workshop in Paris was part of a series of six consultations organized around the world to discuss and provide recommendations on the development of Future Earth, a 10-year international research initiative on Earth system research for global sustainability. The European workshop focused on identifying options for implementing Future Earth in Europe and building interfaces between global, regional and national levels. The written recommendations address the question on the functions of the potential Future Earth European nodes.

The workshop gathered some 100 representatives from the research community, national global environmental change committees, programmes and projects, research funding organisations, policy makers and organisations at the science-policy interface.

The event was co-organised by the French Academy of Sciences and the European ICSU Members, with the support of the Institut Pierre-Simon Laplace, International Council for Science (ICSU) and the International Social Science Council (ISSC). The meeting took place on the premises of the Foundation Simone et Cino Del Duca.

The presentations are available on the workshop website.
